Shelly...

The actress who played her, Susan Douglas Rubes, was a knockout. She reminded me a lot of Elinor Donahue. What I don't get is why the narration had to say Shelly wasn't the most attractive girl in town, as though we'd need more than looking at her to make up our mind about whether she was attractive or not.

I thought that was a little odd, too. My guess is they were just trying to make the narration sound more like something an actual townsperson might say.

An odd bit of narration, to be sure. I suspect it came directly from the non-fiction book, but the casting of this pretty girl just didnt fit.
