Just Saw This Movie Yesterday

TCM was doing a tribute to June Allyson, and they showed "Little Women". I had seen this movie a long time ago, so I really enjoyed seeing it again. But there's one thing I didn't figure out........did Beth die in the movie? I last remember her talking to Jo in the attic and then didn't see her again.

Yes, Beth dies, both in the book and in the movie.

Thank you. Did they show her dying or was it just implied? I don't remember seeing any scenes like that in the movie.

No they don't show her dying. That would be even sadder! They just show Jo writing the dedication in her book saying that it was dedicated to Beth, the sister who had parted from her.

in the attic scene, what Beth says to Jo gives it away that she does die.

Also I think I remember a scene between Jo and her father where he tells her that the doctors say there's nothing more they can do. It was soo sad.Beth was my favourite.

It was especially sad because she had just been given that cute little piano and she was so happy.
