Amy is the novel's baby - so why is Taylor?

When she is older than O'Brien?

Good casting, but it comes across odd.

I'm not too familiar with the story, but I thought it was strange that Amy seemed older than Beth, when it seemed Danes was older than Dunst in the 1994 film.

In the novel, Amy is the youngest sister, but in order to use Margaret O'Brien, as Beth, Beth was made the youngest.

I've read that the director and/or producer wanted Margaret O'Brien to play Beth so much, that they changed the ages.

I always thought the whole Amy and Laurie relationship was kinda creepy, so I don't mind that they changed her age.

Honestly, that's a change I dont mind. It doesn't really affect the story, and maybe it makes Beth's story more poingnant.
