Location of filming

I recognized the boat scene as being in Garrison, NY. Does anyone know of a way to confirm that scene's location?

The location is Cold Spring, NY, the next town up the river from Garrison.

When I first visited Cold Spring I said to myself that Letter to Three Wives was flmed here. I saw the film today and recognized all of the local landmarks. The only thing different was the telephone booth and the shack that it was attached to and the walkway up to the boat which is not there now and may have been put there just for the film.

Recognizable is the gazebo, the small park with the 4 trees, the hotel (still there) and Mt Taurus and Breakneck Ridge. In addtion you can see the 2 mountains across the River, all still there.

I just saw the movie last night on PBS and was going to comment on the boating scenes! One shot was definitely taken from an overlook rest area on the Hudson River, just south of the Bear Mountain Bridge, on the east side of the river. Another I am sure was of the area around Cold Spring, New York, which is maybe 10 miles north of the Bear Mountain Bridge. You may be right that some were taken at Garrison, which is between the two places I mentioned. For those who don't know, these places are about 30 miles north of the City.

It was neat to see places that I know in this well-done, excellent movie. Neat also to see how little really has changed in some ways in 60 years.

@lewis-51 (Bob from Sleepy Hollow) i'm hoping you are watching "A Letter From Three Wives" now. i see the other two posters are no longer active on IMDB. too bad. i got so excited when i noticed the Hudson River scenery. my first thought was to confirm these locations using IMDB. all the locations suggested by you and the previous two posters are correct. i can add some other details.

the boat they boarded with the kids was docked at Cold Spring dock and i'm guessing that was an early Dayliner which then heads north towards Newburgh bay. you can see Storm King Mtn. Garrison is also seen and is many shoreline scenes up along West Point's side of the Hudson just below Cold Spring.

after years of boating and jet skiing out of Cold Spring and Peekskill i know these shorelines. it is great to see how little these areas have changed and remain unspoiled.

any idea which town is in the opening scenes with the trolley tracks? is that Tarrytown or White Plains?

thanks for your thoughts and keen observations.
