Another great movie
Very typical of Reagan. This is just an example of the light comedic roles that he excelled in portraying.

shareReagan was a good actor, he rarely got enough decent scripts to show what he could really do. A lot of the films he was in were only a hit due to him. Today's audiences may make negative comments about him and his films at Warner brothers, but they should take a look at his longevity-he lasted over 12 years as a star of low A and B pictures, but they must have made money, because he would not have been kept around that long. He was certainly a better actor than some of his peers at other studios, and when put up against many of today's stars, he would have had no problem outshining them.

I have enjoyed his movies but I don't think he got a real chance to show his acting chops. Those who have only seen him do comedic roles need to see Kings Row; it's one of my favorites. He's great in it and it boost his career but he never got to capitalize on that success. Soon after the movie he was called to active service.

I tend to agree with what you're saying but I think the movie industry has changed so much actors from the past wouldn't be able to fit into today's Hollywood any more than today's actors could fit into the Hollywood of the past. That said, I'm a bigger fan of older movies so I do have a bias and preference.
