Does anyone know... since the name of Cary Grant's character is the same as the original story's author, is this at all autobiographical?

The movie is based on the true story of "Henri Rochard," whose real name is Roger H Charlier. Dr Charlier wrote "I Was A Male War Bride" under the Rochard pseudonym and continued the story in a second novel, "For the Love of Kate."
Dr Charlier, a native of Belgum, is now an American citizen and holds several degrees, is fluent in a number of languages and has had quite a life! Under his own name he has published a long list of scholarly works in Geology, Geography and Oceanography.
Thank you for this information! I've always loved this film and I didn't know the fellow's real name until now.
