Could someone clear up a few things?

I watched the movie, which kept my interest and at the edge of my seat. However, I do have some questions.

1. During the movie the guy (Sorry, I forgot his name and I don't want to use the back button to check it out in case my post is deleted.) who was being held captive was unable to see what was going on in the room in which Clive was carrying in water. He even asked Monty, the dog, to see what was going on. Yet, later, the captive was able to get rid of the water in the tub, which was in the room he couldn't get into. How did he do that?

2. What was the captive training Morty to do? If he was training him to let the water out of the tub in the other room, how did the captive know that water was being put into the tub if he couldn't see into the room? (Remember, there were two rooms. The captive asked Clive why there were two rooms when he already had one in which to wash up.)

Any help would be appreciated!

I don't know if you'll check this after over a year, but I just watched the movie tonight at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.

Clive wasn't carrying in water. Clive explained to the American (the captive) that he had developed a concoction that would dissolve flesh and bone and thus solve the problem of disposing of the body. Remember he was very careful in handling it, using rubber gloves, etc. I assumed it was an acid of some sort similar to hydrochloric acid. I believe that Clive told the American that he was putting this into the bath tub in the other room.

The American trained the dog to pull the plug in the tub in the other room ("The Hidden Room" original title of the movie, according to Lenny Maltin's book) at an opportune time, plot-wise.

I guess the short answer to how the American knew about the other tub and what was being put in it was that Clive told him.

Thanks for the answer, Mrfilmguy! I guess I put more into the plot than neccessary!
