You can see the bridge scene here

I recently saw a TCM airing of The Green Promise (1949) and the famous bridge scene was indeed omitted. Funny because TCM claims to show unedited versions of their films. I did find, however, where it can be viewed complete and at no charge since the film is now in the public domain: https://archive.org/details/The_Green_Promise#.

Enjoy!

Dear dlevy1201, Thank you for the link to the site archive.org. It's an amazing site and I can't wait to explore it.

Thanks for the link. I came here to see if ithat scene was cut in later releases. It did say it was preserved by The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia. Perhaps in their preservation process, it was omitted. TCM rarely shows a cut film from the many films I watch on TV/App weekly, but who knows? The "article" link on the Watch TCM app made it sound like it was so traumatic. I played it back several times looking for such a scene. Now I certainly understand why Natalie Wood was terribly afraid of water/drowning as it was indeed traumatic in the link you provided. Thanks again, AB:)

TCM showed it again today, again without the bridge scene which starts at 1:22:00 on archive.org. Thanks for posting the link. I came here specifically to find out why there was no bridge scene in the TCM version.
