Rumors of New Film...Casting Fantasies?

I've heard light rumors of the novel, which I love, being optioned. Any ideas on new cast members?

I'd love to see an all Italian American cast, and of course parts for guys like Joe Grifasi and Vincent Pastore. And since Scorsese has been loving period movies lately, why not Scorsese to direct?
