I know the gash on his face was from the riding crop. But I don't recall him getting whipped on the arm in that scene.
Yet, after what we assume was a night together, 1949 codes after all, he was feeling his forearm where he also had a fresh gash.

Just saw it again same issue. Today they would show the rough sex if it existed so I don't know if I am reading too much into that scene or not.

Bwaaaaa!" That is only a slight exaggeration. Many people point to that particular bit of dialogue as the most ridiculous Rand ever wrote. It seems that among other things, Rand was into kinky sex.

I certainly got the impression she was at least into Rape fantasy and desired him as an 'Alpha male'type and was more than into 'a bit of rough'. Whilst I would rather shudder at the idea .. I have to concede it seemed consensual, and each to their own...
