The Forbidden Street

According to Maureen O'Hara's autobiography, 'Tis Herself, these two films are versions of the same picture, shot in London. "Britannia Mews" was cut in Britain by Richard Best, while "The Forbidden Street" was cut in Hollywood. Miss O'Hara also says that Dame Sybil Thorndike steals the picture.

The version they show on the Fox Movie Channel is titled "The Forbidden Street".
I would love to see the British version too. I am really surprised this is not on DVD. It is a lost gem in my opinion. Dana Andrews gives the performance of his career as one can hardly tell his voice is dubbed! I almost believed it for a minute and would have too if we didn't know the timber of his voice. The whole cast is wonderful. A wonderful film.
