Dana Andrews' British Accent??????

Who did his British accent for this film? It is obviously not his voice, not his timber at all. A very good dubbing job, but still would love to know who did the voice. I wonder why Dana didn't???? Anyone know?

I maybe guessing, but his dubbed voice sounds like Alexander Knox.

It's definitely not Alexander Knox's voice !

When I heard Andrews, I thought - what a terrific accent! Then, I read that he'd been dubbed (as the artist character). Listening to him again, the accent then seemed too perfectly smooth and consistent to have been put on or "acted". I believe, though, that his voice is used for the lawyer character.

Oh yes his voice is used for the character in the second half of the movie, but the timber is much different for the British accent and Alexander Knox is a very good guess. I wonder who would know. Maureen O'Hara would I guess. I am surprised it is not mentioned anywhere. What a lovely film!

Andrews, by the time this was filmed, was known by Brits from Best Years and Laura. I think audiences would have laughed at the overdub.

I was too busy viewing Ireland's legendary Maureen
O'Hara.What an actress.
All of that beauty in one woman.

I'm watching this movie now (recorded on TCM) and I didn't even know that was him until a close up of his face! My first Dana Andrews film was Laura, so I was looking for that deep voice. I looked on Wiki, but the production notes are non-existent, but here on IMDb, it says his voice was dubbed, but they never said who.
