Just saw It On TCM

I just watched this movie on TCM this morning. It was very good. I am not a big Zachary Scott fan, but he was real good and Virginia Mayo was completely beautiful, as usual.

An excellent b/w film that keeps the interest all the way to the end.

I just watched it on TCM, too. Actually, I DVR'd it last week when they did that Virginia Mayo salute, and am only now getting around to watching it. I too am not a big Zachary Scott fan, but I really enjoyed seeing Virginia Mayo playing a femme fatale - quite a change from some of her other "wholesome all-American girl" roles. I also enjoyed the supporting characters, like Elisha Cook, Jr., whom I just saw recently in "Don't Bother to Knock," in which he played Marylin Monroe's uncle. Also, a young Dorothy Malone played an interesting character here. Overall the movie was pretty good, although I was hoping for a more noirish sort of ending than the one we got. Oh well, can't have it all, I guess. lol

Just watched it on another TCM Virginia Mayo salute. I live for film noir, and I'm sure this qualifies. But it's a a formula film, nothing special about it. Zachary Scitt is good for a look or two, well suited for film noir. Virginia mayo wasn't really a standout actress, nothing that makes her stand out.

Give me Jane Greer or Gene Tierney any day.
