Hard not to compare...

this movie to Double Indemnity. As I watched I couldn't help but notice the similarities. Basically honest, hard working guy gets seduced by Barbara Stanwyck, totally taken into her web as she turns about to be using him because of his job to help her commit/coverup a murder.

Overall Double Indemnity is much better, which is why it still stands as a classic today while this movie is largely forgotten. I think Wendell Corey is a big part of the problem. There is literally no place in this movie where you feel like Barbara is actually falling for him. Whereas the chemistry between Barbara and McMurray was electric, and you could see where she was attracted to him even those she was using him.
