I like this old film! ... It's got it all action, romance, comedy.

The more I watch this movie the more I like it. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite classic movies.

Guess nobody knows about it, or cares about it eh? ... sad.

I saw the film years ago on TV and remembered it. It's playing this afternoon on AMC and I'm going to record it and watch it at leisure. I can hardly wait. The first time I saw it I couldn't believe my eyes: Oliver Hardy in a movie without Stan Laurel! But now I know more of the story, that Laurel's health was not good.

Those two comic actors can never be replaced.

Does anyone know the name of the cadence song they sing, 800 more miles to go!

The marching song is to the tune of "She'll Be Comin Round the Mountain". I have been searching everywhere to find out if these are the original words to this tune or if they were just made up for the movie. Does anyone know? Wikipedia has some good information on this movie and the history behind it.

"She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain" is derived from an African-American spiritual known as "When the Chariot Comes." As such, it is an good choice of a tune to which soldiers might add original words to comment on their own situation (Only 800/600 Miles More To Go) while singing to keep cadence as well as their spirits up.
