This movie shocked me
This movie shocked me when I was a kid. By the way, who's that who plays the college-aged Edward?
Talk is cheap. Movies are expensive.

That is interesting. Why did it shock you?
As to Edward, I don't recall ever actually seeing him - from the crib to his death, we only hear about him.
Hi,
I saw the movie, and Spencer Tracy is a great actor, (then that is my opinion).
Peace,
Amanda
In my opinion, Tracy was THE greatest actor in the history of cinema.
Deborah Kerr is never bad of course, and here she is AMAZING.
And the secretary! That woman should have had a great career. (Alas, she didn't.)
I agree with you on that.
Spencer Tracy was one of the greatest actor in the history of cinema.
Deborah Kerr is soooo graceful & beautiful.
So refreshing to watch her on the silver screen.
Have you seen her on AN Affair to Remember????????
I watched this today on TCM. I hadn't heard of this movie before, but it was really good. I could see Deborah Kerr at least getting an Oscar nom. It was strange seeing Spencer Tracy playing such an a-hole. Especially when his former partner kills himself.
shareYeah, indeed he was.
But a lot of bad publication/written stuff about him.
But he was one of the best.....
Hello, I'm from Germany and a great fan of Deborah Kerr, but it is impossible to get this film in Germany by a store, from ebay or in another internet-shop. Please, can you help me to find a DVD or VHS of Edward, My Son?

Hi, Regine -
I think your best option may be to list it under the "I want it now" rubric at Ebay.

From here.
Still no official release?
Kramer: ...he was very impressed with what I do.
Elaine: What you do? You don't do anything!
The DVD-R has been released in the U.S. by Warner Archives, and is available to order at wbshop.com
shareI have not seen George Cukor's "Edward, My Son" until this week. Mr. Tracy is a very effective bad guy in this film. Ms. Kerr does an excellent job, and Ms. McGrath (Mrs. George S. Kaufman I believe) is terrific.
shareI just saw the movie this morning. They never showed Edward. Loved the movie, though.
shareWe never see Edward, but we certainly hear about him.
In his father's eyes he can do no wrong. He is spoilt, sheltered from the realities of the world and given everything he wants.
His mother knows this is wrong but cant stand up to her overbearing husband. Ultimately it ends in tragedy for all.
I found the film rivetting, powerful and sad. Great acting by all.
I was shocked by the nude dancing.
What is the sound an imploding pimp makes?
The only thing shocking to me was how easily Spencer Tracy fit into that nasty character. It shouldn't be suprising he was very, very talented. I wonder how often he played an out and out villain?
