This is a good Gene Autry Western!

This is not made as he usually did in that there is no sidekick but it is still a good movie. Jay Silverheels plays Lakoma and speaks perfect English unlike his version in Tonto. I just happened to watch it on the Western Channel on Christmas Day and it is indeed also a good Christmas movie. I will post when it is shown again since Encore Western is good about giving us second chances. Don't miss this one in spite of what some of the critics say.

I just saw this movie on Encore westerns today. I also thought it was a good Gene Autry movie too. A real sidekick was not needed in this film. I like the storyline of the plight of the Indians.

There was another intersting thing about this movie that I watched today. I believe that the soundtrack was rescored in stereo. I had my headset on and it seemed that the music was in some sort of stereo or enhanced mono. However the gunfight near the last 20 or so minutes were in stereo since there was directionality and ambience in the gunshots as well as horses or cars passing from right to left across the screen. I know some Columbia mono films were resscored for stereo(EARTH VS THE FLYING SAUCERS,20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH). This is the first B western that I ever heard rescored and it livened up the soundtrack greatly(EARTH VS THE FLYING SAUCERS sounded great this way too).
