Great movie

This is one of those movies that make you feel warm all over when you get through watching it. I loved the scene with the Nun driving the jeep with the butler holding on the cases of wine. Another great scene is the tennis scene. That Nun can return some balls.

This is based on a true story, Miss. Potts is really a wonderful artist called Lauren Ford. Her work is wonderful. This is not an action movie, nor an adventure movie but it is a really good watch.

Hopping around the board to find something that is interesting.

I was just reading about The Regina Laudis Abby in Bethlehem, CT which seems to be the actual location/real life story that Come To The Stable was based upon. And as an added interest one of the current Abbesses is the former Dolores Hart - Actress.

I remember when, in 2006, Dolores Hart came to Washington DC to advocate on behalf of peripheral idiopathic neuropathy sufferers. She herself is one of them. She was escorted around by some of her "back in the day" Hollywood friends, Jane Fonda, David Hedison and (I think) George Hamilton. Quite an unusualy sight!

This is from Wikipedia:

In Hart's honor, on October 4, 2008, "The Holy Trinity Apostolate," founded by Rev. John Hardon, S.J., sponsored a "Breakfast with Mother Dolores Hart". Held at Rochester, Michigan's Royal Park Hotel, Hart told her story: "He Led Me Out into an Open Space; He Saved Me Because He Loved Me: The Journey of Mother Dolores Hart to Regina Laudis". Since 1963, when she joined the Bethlehem CT monastery, she disciplined herself under the Rule of Saint Benedict. At the breakfast, actress Patricia Neal and Maria Cooper Janis, the daughter of Hollywood leading man Gary Cooper, inter alia, spoke.

Gosh, I'm really sorry I missed that. My dad was taught by Fr. John Hardon. I sure would've loved to hear Mother Dolores Hart speak...and Maria Cooper Janis and Patricia Neal, too! Oh, I'm really bummed that I didn't know about that. Oh, well.

I too would love to hear Rev. Mother Dolores speak. She is such an remarkable woman. I read that she is writting a book about her life at the Abbey, don't know when it will be published, hopefully soon.

Thanks for the interesting back story. I found two things especially surprising.

1. Breakfast with Mother Dolores Hart
It's highly unusual for someone to keep her name when entering the convent to become a nun. It's especially surprising in the case of Dolores Hart because Hart wasn't her given name. I believe it was her Hollywood name.

She seems to have remained a fairly public person and I believe I saw an interview in which she talked about many of her past experiences. Perhaps that was the reason she kept her name; publicity. My mother tells me she sees Mother Dolores on TV often. It may be stock footage but it seems she's still talked about on Catholic news shows. Does anyone know which Order she's in?

2. BoomerMovieFan says > At the breakfast, actress Patricia Neal and Maria Cooper Janis, the daughter of Hollywood leading man Gary Cooper, inter alia, spoke.
This is an odd combination: Patricia Neal and Maria Cooper Janis at the same event. It's unusual because Patricia Neal had an affair with Gary Cooper that lasted many years. When Maria, his only child was quite young, he left his family to be with Ms. Neal. He did return to them years later but I can't imagine his daughter and Ms. Neal being on friendly terms. Then again, stranger things have happened.
