When Indian shot McQueen


There is no way anyone could have made that shot. The bullet probably wouldn't have gone that far, and if it did it likely would have been stopped by hit vest. It was just too long of a shot for guns of those days.

was he wearing a jacket? My point was that by time the bullet got there it would be going so slow it would probably bounce off cloth,whether vest or jacket or shirt.

Eagle-ri, you are quite mistaken that rifles of that era could not have made such a shot with killing power in the hands of an expert marksman. The rifle the Indian scout used appeared to be a Remmington-Keene, which was chambered for the Army .45-70, .43 Remmington (.43 Spanish) and other powerful black powder cartrides. During the Civil War snipers routinely killed or wounded enemy officers at ranges of 500 yards plus with much inferior rifles.
