Oudoor landscape locations
I started watching about 10 or 15 minutes into the movie , and was struck by the beautiful scenery...I assumed it was Scotland, but I feel it is probably somewhere in California...anyone know for sure ?
Two years later, and having checked the movie locations listed (Greyfriars Churchyard in Edinburgh), it's my guess that if they went all that way for the scenes at Jock's grave, they also filmed the rest in Scotland.
I don't know for sure, but a lot of that countryside you won't find in California. Some of it looks like the real deal to me.
Other shots, like Lassie climbing out of the lake on her way back to Greyfriars, etc. could have been done on the studio lot.
