What's that song?

There's a clip where a soldier is singing something to the effect "she's got fine teeth in her mouth - one points north and one points south."

Found these lyrics in a "Non-PC" Cadence count site.

They were ridin' down the river, a-settin' in the stern,
She was holding his'n and he was holding her'n.
Comma ty yi yippee, etc.

The gal I love, and the gal that loves me,
Is the hog calling champion of the State of Tennessee,

She's got fine teeth in her mouth,
One points north and t'other points south,

Over the years there have been many words to this form of cadence counting.

The song is a parody of the traditional western ballad The Old Chisholm Trail.

Contrary to the other posts, they were not a Jody.

The song, done by Woodie Guthrie as a folk song, was popularized during World War II by the movie "The Old Chisholm Trail", starring Johnny Mack Brown and released in 1942. The first scene after the title credits has cowboys singing it as they drive cattle. The flick is easily found on YouTube.

Gene Autry also sang it in Sioux City Sue.

Yee-ah-ha!
