3rding on Ruth Roman. What a "babe" she was back then.......
Mayo, naturally, was beyond words.
lst time watching this movie. Didn't get through all of it. Have it on tape and will watch again at some point. Yet, from what I did see some of Berle's jokes and skits were funny, but delivered so fast that they lost effect. Didn't like the Al Jolson routine and that entire skit in front of the "Boys Club". He didn't mesh with either Roman nor Mayo and, maybe, needed someone like Martha Raye to make this work, but Raye wasn't attractive enough to be a love interest. Not really a Berle fan, but got caught up in Roman and Mayo aesthetically in this movie, who are the only reason I'll give this movie a go again in toto.
Good to see Alan Hale and the Cowardly Lion, Bert Lahr, tho' he and Virginia as companions was a stretch.
