ok, so my question is about the bed situation. there was a queen bed, and then a single. I don't quite understand the sleeping arrangement! could someone please explain

No, there were always two beds in the room, they just didn't show the other one in the first bedroom scene. But as to the whys of the two beds: the Production Code.
