Volume 1 or Volume 2?

I can't buy both volumes right now. Which volume do you prefer?

reply

Maybe Vol 2 has a slight edge. It has "Cask of the Amontillado" with Bela Lugosi. It also goes back to the second episode of the series.

Both sets are pretty good if you like these live anthologies. I tend to get series in order if possible. In this case it's not as both sets cover roughly the same period.

I'm waiting for the third set For a while, it looked like there wasn't going to be a third set, but apparently, plans are to release it in March.

Both sets have good stories and MANY familiar actors.

Hope this helped

Thanks, galaxybeing for your answer. I sent you a private message a week ago, asking the same question. Did you get it?

By the way, I have been hearing it's a radio series. What exactly is that? I hope it has visuals, right?

The "Suspense" that is on DVD is an anthology television series which ran from 1949-1954.

There was also a "Suspense" anthology radio series which ran from 1942 to 1962.

Several of the anthologies on my list started out as radio shows. "Lights Out" may be the earliest. It was a radio show in 1934!

I answered your message (I've not gotten any private messages till recently so I haven't been cheeking it very often)

Now, most of these old TV series (including Suspense)were live, so the only versions that exist were filmed off monitors during there initial run. These were called kines and that's how channels that weren't hooked up to a network cable could see the shows. They are not quite as clear & crisp as direct recording would have been, but if it weren't for these kines, we wouldn't have the shows at all.

In the first volume of "Suspense", the first episode looks a little worse then the rest, but they are all quite watchable.

Thanks for the detailed analysis. I have ordered Season 1.

It is in fact a shame that people don't know about these anthologies.

I would suspect after watching them, you'll eventually get the others.

Hope you enjoy them.
