Jean Peters originally offered 'Mike' female lead

Oh what might have been....

I liked Anne Baxter in this, she was cute and all but the young Peters just coming off a starring role in the 1947 hit Captain from Castile (with Tyrone Power) where she just oozed sex appeal would have been a great choice but she thought the Mike role "too sexy". Arrrgh. Our loss.
