Good for younger people?

I saw this movie when I was just 13, suprisingly I liked it. Good for younder people or am I just strange?

I only saw about 20 min. of it when I was 18 and always wanted to see all of it. Never saw it again until 34 years later just last month. I was not disappointed. I find it amazing that I knew it was a great movie by just the little I saw of it. I think it's a great movie for any age. I gave it a 10.

A 10? I just watched it for the first time and I gave it a 3. It was so boring and stupid. Incredible ^^

I'm not surprised looking at the some of your other ratings. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider better than Fight Club or 2001: A Space Odyssey? Okay then...

reply

I rate by entertainment the moment I watched it and not by quality. My ratings would look different if I rated by quality.

2001 Space Odyssey was dragged Boredom.
Normally I have no patience for long movies that aren't any dynamic and this one had many scenes that got repeated like a felt eternity, I even pushed the fast forward button on my remote twice. Even thought the movie is broken when I started it because it had a black screen for a suspicious long time.

Fight Club and Tomb Raider, yeah that can be argued. I'd probably rate FC higher after rewatching than Tomb Raider after rewatching, but I cba to rewatch any of those two ^^

I don't know why ppl in Yellow Sky behave so idiotic and dumb. One may think it's the genre but I've seen western movies that show otherwise... one may think it's the age but I've watched good old movies too. Old movies are often very plain but I considered this one as oddly dumb.

And FYI I rated Batman also higher than Fight Club :D

But how come you didn't pick other western examples when crawling through my votes anyway? I gave The Hallelujah Trail (1965) an 8, but mainly because of its comicality.

All the westerns made before 1960 are perfect for younger people. Get your kids hooked on good movies now so they dont waste their money or time later on the newer garbage, that has tons of brainwashing, product placements, sex and filth.

I disagree. Although I like the movie, the attempted rapes of the Anne Baxter character and the general attitudes toward women teach young people some pretty appalling lessons.

I was 17 the first time I saw "Yellow Sky". I rewatched it today - now I'm 20. I liked it the frst time around, now I like it even more, althogh the ending rubbed me the wrong way both times. But now that I've watched way more Golden Age movies, I've become rather accustomed to cop-out sugarcoated endings, so it was not quite as disappointing the second time around. What really impressed me about the movie upon both viewings, though, is the cinematography! As another poster already stated, this is a Western shot in Film Noir style. If you enjoyed it, I recommend "Pursued" with Bob Mitchum.

Yeah I was surprised at how creepy/rapey the film is at times. I guess that was the attitude of a lot of people in those days though. It was still a good film, but perhaps not the best Western for younger viewers considering the vast selection of Westerns from this time period.

I feel its very much more appreciated if you are older but there is no deep message here.
