Was there even a shred of truth to the Lorenz Hart romance with Peggy McNeil? Did he woo her in an attempt to deny his emerging homosexuality? Or was this a complete Hollywood fabrication? Thanks to anyone who can help.
shareAbsolutely not. Lorenz Hart was a closet gay man. Peggy McNeil was a sort of made up character based on a sort of composite of women that Lorenz Hart knew. But the whole "unrequited love for Peggy" angle of the film was pure Hollywood and had nothing to do with the real Hart.
