Who was she?
Anybody know who the blonde girl was, who was paired with Cyd Charisse in the "On your toes" number? She must have been a good dancer and was in perfect synchronisation with Cyd throughout.

Please look again. Cyd Charisse was the brunette in the "On Your Toes" scene. I also am wondering who the blonde dancer was. I too noticed how she was in perfect synchronization with Ms. Charisse, who was a wonderful dancer. The blonde looks something like June Haver, who also was a wonderful dancer and vocalist, but Ms. Haver's name does not appear on the cast list.
For those who are taking another look at the "On Your Toes" scene, the two principal dancers are wearing red, and the corps dancers are wearing light pink.
In the party scene near the beginning of the film, Cyd Charisse and Betty Garrett arrive on the arms of Perry Como. Cyd is wearing a gold and orange print or embroidered dress, and Betty is wearing a red print dress.
Dee Turnell
shareDee Turnell danced with Cyd Charisse in "On Your Toes/This Can't Be Love." She also had dancing bits, according to IMDB, in "Brigadoon" ('Waitin' for my Dearie'), "Easter Parade," "Kismet," and "The Pirate" (as one of the ladies in 'Nina').

Thank you so much. I will have to read more about Ms. Turnell. She certainly was a wonderful dancer.
I'm watching it right now on TCM...Gene Kelly and Vera Ellen are dancing to "Slaughter on 10th Avenue". If I missed the "On your Toes" number...darn it...I'd like to see who was dancing to that. I'm pretty good at picking out who's who. But this is most definetly Gene Kelly and Vera Ellen dancing here...
shareThe "Slaughter on 10th Avenue" ballet is from the stage version of ON YOUR TOES. The original choreography was by George Balanchine. Obviously, Kelly devised more movie-friendly moves for himself and Vera-Ellen.
