My Heart Stood Still
My Heart Stood Still is one of my favorites. What a pity that it's not included in film. But, actually, near the end of the movie, when Larry is weaving in and out of places, he briefly goes into a theatre. You can hear the very end of My Heart Stood Still being sung.
I like the story about the way the song came about. When a young Rodgers and Hart went to London, Rodgers saw a pretty girl and remarked: My heart stood still. Larry wrote the words down on a sheet of scrap paper because he thought it would be a good title for a song. Even though Larry usually insisted on having music before he wrote lyrics, this time he wrote the song out. Rodgers wrote the music and the result is a song that has become a standard.
