BRAVO DONAT. HE IS THE BEST!

I throw my hat into the ring. Donat is the best actor of all time!

Bedevilled by asthma, only twenty movies and an unpleasant death at 54.

"Perhaps the asthma had weakened him but, in fact, it was discovered he had a brain tumour the size of a duck egg and cerebral thrombosis was certified as the primary cause of death."

An abject, miserable crying shame that we were deprived of his brilliance.

A truly wonderful actor.

I haven't seen him much in movies yet, but he was really brilliant in this one. Incredibly strong presence - he doesn't have to say a word, but he steals the scene.

He was seriously ill when making his last film "The Inn Of The Sixth Happiness", and died shortly after completing his last scene on the film in June, 1958. Ironically, his last words on camera were "We shall not see each other again, I think. Farewell". A truly great actor who's career was blighted and prematurely ended by illness.
