Is this a fun film to watch
just saying
shareAs far as I can tell, this was the first color dinosaur movie of its type, which alone makes it worth watching.
I particularly enjoyed the old Cinecolor process, with its more muted, but lushly displayed palette. At a time when most programmer pictures like this were being shot in grainy black and white on Army surplus stock, Unknown Island stands out like an oasis with its exciting use of color.
True, the acting creaks, but the actors are at least sincere about it and are obviously enjoying themselves.
The effects are certainly dated and unconvincing TODAY, but given the year the film was made -1948- I think they did as good a job as they could with what they had. Taken on that level, they are reasonably well done.
So, while it may be Kong's poor relation and a shabby predecessor of The Lost World,Unknown Island nevertheless remains a fun and diverting Saturday matinee favorite.

No.
I like old dinosaur movies and this one and Lost Continent from the '50s with Cesar Romero and Hugh Beaumont were both horrible.
I'd sooner see someone in a dinosaur costume. Well, this one did obviously have someone in costumes, but it was still terrible.
