Has this ever been remade??

It's a great show but it is BW and 60 years old. Ben Stiller would be good in the Bogey part. I don't know who today could play the old man howard. Wally stole this movie.

There's no way this movie could get any better. Color, better looking actors, special effects, whatever, movies just do not get any better or more classic than this. It might be able to be done, but somehow the Hollywood producers always try to shove in so many things to appeal to all kinds of different groups that the remakes end up appealing to no one.

Maybe they could go the "True Grit" route and make another screen version based not so much on the original movie as on the original source material?

This is one movie that was better than the book.

We think alike when it comes to the oldies but I have to say, the Palance/Winters COLOR remake is heads/tails better ... and I'm a huge Bogie fan !!

What are you talking about .... can you put a link out?

Bruce: I believe Ironman is referring to "I Died a Thousand Times" (1955), the remake of "High Sierra" (which has nothing to do with TTOTSM, other than Bogie having starred in both movies and "Sierra" in both titles.)

(The remake was a nice showcase for Jack Palance but it was no match for "High Sierra.")

There was an episode of Remington Steele that was an "homage" to the film.

If you want to count an ep. of "Cheyenne" as you watch it, it slowly creeps up up on you and then you realize you are watching a version of this movie. B Traven eve gets screen credit at the end

There are huge nods to Sierra Madre withiin There Will Be Blood.
Paul Thomas Anderson loves The Treasure of...
I hope to god it never gets remade. A Classic.

Really? Could you point out one of two? Can't seem to think of any.

reply

Why does it need to be remade? Because it's 60 years old? So what!

It was made, it remains a classic. Someone can make another movie based on the novel if they want but they don't have to remake a movie that was already made.

Think this is a non-serious/trolling post.
