Who would you cast in a modern remake?

Wouldn´t really want Hollywood to remake it, but if it happened, this are the actors I would cast

Jon Bernthal - Dobbs
Kit Harington - Curtin
Jim Beaver - Howard
Boyd Holbrook - Cody
John Goodman - McCormick
Damián Alcazar - Gold Hat

reply

I can only think of Titus Welliver as Dobbs,
but really this movie is so classic and the characters so iconic that I don't think it could be done, no one who would care would care. ;-)

Bruce Willis - Dobbs

~ I'm a 21st century man and I don't wanna be here.

Bernthal as Dobbs is an interesting choice. I myself can see/would like to see either Hugh Jackman or the far less appreciated Matt Dillon in the role. Oh, it would also be mandatory for Jeff Bridges to be in it--it basically suits him. And Diego Luna should join the party as well.

Now bring on the “grrrr remakes, Hollywood unoriginal, films are dead, etc” boomers like these salty asses 👇

bridges as howard
christian bale as dobbs
damon as curtin

reply

Casey Affleck as Curtin
Joel Edgerton as Dobbs
Christopher Waltz as Howard

reply

Edgerton is not a bad choice - I just saw him in It Comes at Night and he was pretty good in that. I think the Howard character is tailor made for Bridges.

I'm going with an older cast, but most could get away with playing guys a little younger.

George Clooney - Dobbs
Matt Damon - Curtin
Tom Waits - Howard
Ben Affleck - Cody
Bob Odenkirk - McCormick
Benicio del Toro - Gold Hat

reply

I'd cast a writer who can come up with something original instead of raping the corpse of the dead. This film is fine just the way it is and any remake would be an insult.

reply

For me, I’d go:

Denzel Washington- Dobbs
Oscar Isaac- Curtin
J.K. Simmons- Howard
Aaron Eckhart- Cody

reply

Dobbs - Woody Harrelson

Curtin - Casey Affleck

Howard - Stephen Root

Cody - Jake Gyllenhaal

McCormick - John C. Reilly

Gold Hat - Benicio Del Toro
