Was Flavia's mother really pregnant?

I just watched this movie for the 3rd or 4th time now and I want to know if anyone else noticed. If Flavia's mother is pregnant in this movie why does she not look it? When she runs after Flavia she has the slimmest waist and tummy that I have ever seen on a pregnant woman. And after they show the baby as far along as it looks, crying too! where did she have it hidden?

It's hard to believe today, but in 1947 the movie industry considered it improper to show a pregnant woman's figure. Even the word "pregnant" was off limits.

That's an unnecessary slam; "Hollywood" is many, many people, and they don't all have the same morals. Shame on your prejudice!

Ah, so that's how your mind works!
