Benzedrine Nasal Inhalers Common 1950s and in This Movie - then Banned

Gang leader, Stiles, uses the Benzedrine Nasal Inhaler throughout this movie (1948).
This was an over-the-counter item at the time containing mainly Benzedrine, an amphetamine
(speed). It was used to clear congested nose but also gave a mild high. As high
scool/college students, we used these inhalers quite often to feel "good". My
friends and I did NOT become addicted to these inhalers but some people did
by taking inhaler apart and swallowing the Benzedrine paper strip inside. Bad news so FDA
banned these inhalers in 1959. So then we switched to coffee for our mild high.
