Excellent Western !

Excellent acting and script combined with a film noir dark gritty viewpoint this little known western packs a heck of a punch. Dick Powell plays his role to perfection as an undercover army man sent in to break up an illegal operation. Little does he know the "man" he is after whom he only knows as Charly is a beautiful woman who he can't help liking. This is a tight gripped, excellent and enjoyable film and should not be viewed as your average Shootemup !

I recorded this film a while back because of the cast; I never thought of Dick Powell as a western star but here he is. I agree this is a good film and was somewhat surprised (pleasantly) by the noir aspect.

definitely one of the studio great and filmed on location with many contract players! Too bad the death of Mr Williams' character was a bit anticlimactic ...

I like it but I don't think it's that good really. The scenes are slammed together so abruptly that half the time I was wondering where they came from. It's a bit like one of those programs people put on you-tube where they've edited out all the pauses so you have a continuous series of busy scenes that don't actually make much sense.

Did you also watch it onn bbc, Huw?

reply

Yep, caught up with it on iPlayer. I hoping the BBC will start a weekly series of older and not often seen films.
