So, where was the house that the Lynn Bari character lived in? Was it the Hearst mansion at San Simeon? I don't recall the Hearst castle at San Simeon as being near enough to the ocean to have a stair down directly to the sea. Thus, if the Hearst mansion was used, were the stairs and the ocean added in the background by special effects? Does anyone know the locations of the other exteriors in this film?

I think the exteriors of the house are the old Getty Mansion across the PCH from the ocean. In the movie, you never see the house and the sea in the same shot. It's an illusion.
