Ed Begley was only.........

Just watched this movie and I noticed that too! Of course it was typical for the mom or dad of an adult character to only be 15 or so years older, this was done in many movies. But Begley was only 47 when this movie was made; that's a real stretch to be believable.

Casting must have been done based on people believing Stanwyk was at least a decade younger than her age.

She is also 6 years older than Bert Lancaster which makes their relationship a bit atypical.
