Because he was. The character was so caring and tender.
And i've been waiting for this moment, for all my life..
He seemed almost impossibly "nice" under very trying circumstances, but did a very convincing job as Robert. Nice guy indeed!!

Mark Stevens was indeed a cutie, and a good actor too - multi-talented from what I heard. He sang, wrote novels later in life, studied art, and even directed. Too bad he doesn't get the recognition that he deserves, but his career as an actor never fully took off. It's good that we have movies like this to remember him by.
