Irene Dunne deserved the Oscar that year, and ...

Jane Wyman got it!

The following year there was hardly any competition, and Olivia won in a walk for "The Heiress".

As much as I like Olivia, she was disappointing in this film. At times she was on and other times she was just too much in the portrayal.

OMG ... I loved Irene Dunne in, "I Remember Mama!!" I watch that movie over and over(thank goodness for TCM and DVD's)! While I thought Olivia De Havilland was GREAT in this movie, I agree with you~Irene Dunne was better!

I thought Olivia gave a fabulous performance. But I found this film with all the character tantrums and screaming a little hard to watch. Not my favorite Olivia film.

"I hope she didn't take my attempt to destroy her too seriously."
