Best portrayal of mental illness I've ever seen

Olivia's performance as Virginia Cunningham, a patient in a woman's mental ward is top rate. What I like most about her performance is that instead of going over the top like many are apt to do while playing insane, she goes the other way and tunes it down. The performance is the most realistic depiction of mental illness i have seen.

I absolutley believe that Olivia should have won the academy award for this portrayal. It was simply brilliant.

Her performance is indeed brilliant. You should check out The Three Faces of Eve (1957), that's a good study of mental illness too.

Olivia is brilliant. She is subtle and realistic. She is very good with expressing so much without saying a word without overacting.

Olivia was robbed of the Oscar that year.

Too bad she didn't win. It would have been well deserved.
