When did Gabe become a cop?

Last week he was a reporter in Jinx Money. I guess it was the only way to keep him in the series. He had talent as he would show later on The Steve Allen Show.

In Gabriel Dell's appearances in Bowery Boys films he always seemed to be a different character, I think in Spook Busters he's just coming back from the Navy with a French wife...that was 2 years earlier, where's the wife now? It's all good though, I think Gabe wanted to be a separate character from the Boys so they used him as a whatever buddy that just shows up...you know they could have done that type of thing with Bobby Jordan too, I really wish Bobby would have stayed with the Boys, leaving after Bowery Buckaroos was sad...

Gabie's performance in this one though, Smugglers Cove, was darn good, I like when Digger was pulling him down stairs and he see's Teresa, "Oh beauty and the beast...Hello Beauty...BEAST!!!" Great stuff!

He's also a cop in "Trouble Makers" He's a new rookie on the job.
