Michael Redgrave

For me, Michael Redgrave does not work in this movie. He just not does have the charisma or sex appeal to knock Joan Bennett's character off her feet like Mark does to Celia. After all, Celia is a beautiful and wealthy woman who has had plenty of suitors. You are going to tell me she runs into Michael Redgrave in Mexico and falls for him and marries him that quickly?

The scene where she is lusting over him in the restaurant is supposed to be full of sexual tension, and Joan is trying, but Redgrave is just flat. I could see Robert Taylor in the role maybe. Or Cary Grant.

To me, the whole movie would be better with a stronger, sexier actor in the part because then it would be more believable for Joan to stay with him and be under his spell. As it is, the viewer just can't believe she stays with him as long as she does.
