Joan Chandler - lovely

I am going through a "30s/40s/50s" film-watching extravaganza at the moment & just watched this for the first time (I am 'only' 50).

I though Joan Chandler (Janet) was gorgeous in this - sadly she didn't do a lot of movies, really, but hey ho ...

In my own opinion, she was prettier than Ingrid Bergman in the 2 films I've just watched (Notorious & Casablanca).

I agree. She's very fetching. Another Hitchcock stand-out female for me is Ruth Roman in STRANGER ON A TRAIN. Both Chandler and Roman were brunettes, which set them apart from the blondes Hitch was to later fetishize.

Chandler as Janet is stunning in this film. What a lovely face indeed, I was drawn to it whenever she was in the frame.

I agree. I loved her the moment she walked in the door.....
Her reactions to the other character's remarks were interesting and sometimes funny and cute.
One other thing.... I love that dress!

Me too found her absolutely gorgeous!

Me too, I was astonished that she had such a small filmography, one of the most beautiful actresses I've ever seen.

She was absolutely fancy and her look and hairstyle were adorable. Just the perfect woman popped out from the Vogue magazine of the month.

In the DVD extras, you can see her again in the 'coming attractions' for "Rope"--a scene on a bench in Central Park with David. She's scrumptious. I might have seen her in....Something of the Something. Or was it just 'Something'?

That line always cracks me up. Every time I watch it I laugh. Just reading your post I laughed again.
