Anyone love this very film here

in a top list of my favorite Hitchcocks basically.

If you want to be taken seriously, you have to be a serious person.

reply

Yes. It's one of my favorite Hitchcock films.
I love the time period... late 40's and the whole party. The characters fascinate me.
I'd love to attend that party, minus what's in the chest. lol!

reply

I love it... I'm surprised genre movies these days don't pay homage to it more often... it's so much fun!

reply

I've always loved Rope.
It's probably my second favorite Hitchcock after Dial M for Murder.

reply

Dial M is another great one. A good payoff in the end!
In Rope, I particularly like James Stewart's speech to the two young men after he opens the chest and sees the proof of what they have done. He's so horrified. I still get the chills when he says that line about eating from the boy's grave.

reply

Although James Stewart didn't actually like this film, but as always, he did a good job.

reply

He really was great in this.
Do you know why he didn't like this film? My only guess would be the way this film was shot. It had to be tedious having to start another ten minute reel of film all over if someone blew a line.

reply

One of the few Hitchcock movies I actually like. It seems to be underrated.

reply

Sounds like we have similar tastes, in Hitchcock anyway. This is my second-favorite, after “Rear Window”; those are the only two of the nine I’ve seen that I would give anything higher than a very mediocre rating.

reply

Yep, I really like Rear Window, but I'm not so impressed with the rest. I would've like Suspicion much better if it they had kept the original ending.

reply

Interesting—I haven’t seen that one.

reply

The ending is really lame. Pretty much ruins the rest of the movie.
