Doris and Jack

I'm surprised that Doris Day and Jack Carson never got together. There is chemistry between them definitely. I am watching this movie right now and saw the other one this morning on TCM where she finally realized she loved Jack in the end of the movie.

maybe they did? ;)

Doris Day had terrible taste in men. She would have been lucky to get such a nice guy as Jack Carson. I agree they have great chemistry and it is so nice to see him get the girl in a picture. He's usually the other guy, best friend or there for comic levity. I always enjoy seeing Jack Carson in a movie.

Thanks for saying that. I am a big fan of Jack Carson and found a website tribute to him in one of these messages. He got the girl in two of these movies with Doris Day and when I read his website, I saw they did date for a while. She should have stayed with him. He was really good looking. I see he was married several times also so maybe it would not have worked between them. Who knows. I saw Jack the other night, thanks to TCM, in a movie with Myrna Loy and William Powell. He was lots of fun ! I fancy him!!!!!

Jack Carson was in Love Crazy (1941) http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0033852/ with Myrna Loy and William Powell and he was very funny. Have you ever seen Arsenic and Old Lace (1944) http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0036613/? He was brilliant as a rather dim-witted policeman opposite Cary Grant. He always added a nice note to any film he was in. I've always fancied him myself too.

According to her autobiography, Doris and Jack saw a lot of each other during the time they starred in her first two films. She said it could never be serious because although Jack was sweet and considerate he was "a closed man who couldn't communicate." She also said he drank too much.

I don't think I want to go to the pictures. Oh?Why not? I've seen everything worth seeing.

So she left Jack Carson for Marty Melcher? Eeesh!
