In my opinion the movie is a masterpiece...but was anyone else disappointed in the love story between Vicky and Julian? I felt it was so rushed, so I didn't feel the connection I wish I felt.

The scene in the coach along the coast road is wonderful. But apart from that he isn't really very loving to Vicky
He demands that she gives up dancing for Lermontov. That's how it often was back in the day, when a ballerina (or an actress) got married they often had to give up their work. It took an exceptionally enlightened man to be OK with them continuing with their art. And Julian doesn't appear to be an exceptionally enlightened man

BTW I agree, the movie is a masterpiece, one of many masterpieces produced by Powell & Pressburger and The Archers in a remarkably short period of time
