Love of my Life - Point of no Return from POTO

This was a few weeks back when TCM showed The Pirate. As I was watching the 'Love of my Life' scene, I kept thinking "where have I seen a similar scene like this? in an opera?" It was wracking my brains, when a few days later at 2 in the morning, I woke up and it came to me - the "Point of no Return" scene from The Phantom of the Opera musical. Now, I don't know if it's just me, but the numbers seem similar, perhaps not so much musically, but in the purpose and staging (the attempt to lure someone in front of an audience - in the case of The Pirate it is Macoco, in the POTO, it is the Phantom; in the recent film version of POTO the main colour used is red and there are flames - I can't recall if the London production uses the red and flames). Here's the POTO scene from the film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFZrM38mf7Y

Musically, the songs have a similar slow tempo - I don't know if there are any other similarities in style; I would imagine though, that Andrew Lloyd Webber has listened to quite a number of Cole Porter songs in his day, and even seen the films.
