WW II was over. Aviation had hit it's pinnacle and the one thing that fascinated folks about speed was those daredevils on two wheels. They continued to have a niche in cinema through the '60's as I remember watching "The Wild Angels" with Christine Johnson by my side. First girl I ever kissed. Okay, I diverge. The motorcycle movie genre did not last long but for those who remember it, this was the first and it ran for twenty years.

Motorcycle speedway racing had its early days in the U.S. and Australia, but exploded into great popularity in England in 1928. It thrived through the 1930s, was put on hold during the war, and returned for another prosperous period in the late 1940s and early 1950s. It flared in popularity again from the late 1960s to the mid 1980s, but is currently at a low ebb. This movie is a rare cinematic look at the sport during one of the high points in its history, and is quite distinct from films of the outlaw biker genre.
