remake

I have never seen this pop up anywhere, but Robert Aldrich filmed it in the 70's as THE GRISSOM GANG with Kim Darby, Scott Wilson and Robert Lansing. Very violent film but mild compared to what they show today.
I saw Aldrich years ago at the AFI in DC when they had a series devoted to film noir. He talked about KISS ME DEADLY and his career, and I asked him about violence in films then as compared to the Spillane film. I don't remember his answer.
James M. Cain also appeared with DOUBLE INDEMNITY. He said he sold 10 books to the movies and only made $100,000 which made him a poor businessman.
